Dr. Brian Garner

School Director, Middle School English and Technology, Secondary Technology and Health

I'm originally from a small town called Clearlake in northern California, and my career in Education started in California's public schools in semi-rural areas of the northern part of the state for five years. In 2004, my wife Julie and I joined QSI for our first international teaching experience in Kyiv, Ukraine, and we have been proud to be members of the QSI global community since then.

I began my administrative career with QSI and have now served for over 15 years in various administrative positions at QSI schools in Ukraine, China, Slovakia, and now Germany.  I also support the development of Quality Schools Internationals schools by working on committees such as curriculum development, Child Protection, NWEA MAP testing, and the organization's accreditation through MSA.  I am particularly passionate about supporting student learning within the mastery learning approach, and I enjoy constantly learning how educational technology can support the learning process and prepare students with the skills they need for future success.

Together with my 3 sons and wife, we are so pleased to be a part of QSI International School of Münster. Our family began and has grown in QSI schools and we are a testament to how children can thrive as expatriates in the unique, individualized, and rigorous learning environment that QSI schools offer. As a family, we enjoy visiting theme parks and any time we can spend outdoors - Munster is a great place for a healthy and active lifestyle! Summers will find us out on the lake in our hometown in California, recharging before another school year begins!

Mrs. Marry Dijkman

Classroom teacher, 5- and 6-year old students

My name is Marry Dijkman-Bauer. I grew up in the Netherlands, in a small town called Dokkum, where I had a wonderful and happy childhood. Once I had to decide what career path I wanted to take, I was set to become an educator.  A decision that I never regretted. I just love my job!

When I was studying in the ’80s, I got the opportunity to get specialized in teaching young elementary students. Since working with younger groups was very close to my heart, I chose to head in that direction. After getting my teaching degree, I was lucky to find a job right away. Since I was passionate about diversity and inclusion, and because I had then only just left school, I opted to continue studying next to work with a special needs education course, for which I got my certificate two years later.

Over the years, I had the opportunity to work in several schools, in several cities, in several countries, and I am very thankful for that. I think this is my 24th year of teaching! I can hardly believe it, but time flies if you do what you love. This is my 6th year at QSI in Münster. I am very grateful to work in an international setting, which is something very special! Working with the little world citizens is a true joy!

Mr. Greyson Spencer

Classroom teacher, 10- and 11-year old students.

My name is Greyson Spencer. I'm a passionate teacher that always tries to find new and exciting ways to do things in the classroom. I graduated from Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington in 2013 and since then I have taught in the United States, Australia, China (at another QSI school), and Hungary.

My teaching philosophy is that students learn more when they are having fun. Being happy and having fun helps to stimulate the brain, and often the experiences will last longer in a student's memory. To this aim, I try to incorporate games into my class and give my students as many opportunities to take control of their own learning as possible.

I was born in Racibórz, a small city in the South of Poland next to the Czech Republic border. After finishing my Bachelor studies in German language and getting my teacher’s degree at the University of Wroclaw; I moved to Germany to study Communication; Politics and Social Science at the University of Münster.

In addition to following the political events of what is happening in the world and the great fascination with the history of mankind, I spend my free time on my bike in Münsterland or hiking in the mountains.

Mrs. Julie Garner

School volunteer, Middle School and Intensive English support

I am excited to have the role of volunteer at QSI Münster and get to support the school both inside and outside the classroom.  This year is my 19th year teaching and my 17th year working with QSI schools around the world. I have taught all of the English, Language Arts, and Writing courses that QSI offers for Middle School and Secondary ages, and I enjoy supporting students who are still gaining English language fluency. I have also worked for QSI in the Admissions area and I have a holistic understanding of what is at the heart of QSI schools, mastery learning, and our vision for the children we welcome.

I am passionate especially about teaching writing as it is a skill that will follow students into so many aspects of life, future study, and professions.  I believe that writing is not only a skill for life, but one that requires students to develop critical thinking skills that will serve them in so many ways.  I also enjoy supporting students in community service activities to help them to develop an understanding of the value of service in their lives and in the lives of others.

Mr. Julian Fahl

English, Cultural Studies, Music, and Art teacher, Middle School and Secondary students

This school, like our wonderful city, is bustling with excitement and places waiting to be discovered! It is my pleasure to introduce myself as your child's teacher in one of the following courses: Modern World History, American Literature, Secondary Literature & Writing, Research Project, Middle School Cultural Studies, and Middle School Art & Music.  I am highly motivated and honored to continue working at QSI Münster during my fourth year amongst such a talented and international team, implementing our extensive curriculum in order to provide a rigorous, caring, and exciting learning atmosphere for all.

Like many students in this school, I am the product of an international upbringing, education, and mindset.  I was at a similar age when I first left Germany for the United States, and like them, I grew up amidst a multitude of cultures, languages, and locations.  Through this memorable experience, I fell in love with learning, languages, and intercultural exchange, and, therefore am determined to pursue an education with the goal of understanding others, and bringing people closer together through the wonderful tool of learning. I firmly believe that we benefit from two educations in our lives: the one that we attain in school and the one that we receive from those who surround us.  With that said, I am honored to play a small role in the journey of your child.
